Job summary
gpac is seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join a leading Wisconsin commercial general contractor in the Madison area. This role leads all preconstruction efforts, partnering with clients, architects, and project teams to develop accurate budgets and strategic approaches for complex projects.
Ideal candidates have 7+ years in commercial construction, strong cost analysis and scheduling knowledge, and hands-on experience with On-Screen Takeoff and Sage.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of commercial construction experience with emphasis on preconstruction or estimating.
- Strong understanding of cost analysis, scheduling, and construction methods.
- Experience with preconstruction/estimating software (On-Screen Takeoff, Sage, or similar).
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all phases of preconstruction for large, complex commercial projects.
- Develop detailed conceptual and hard cost estimates.
- Lead value engineering and constructability reviews.
- Manage bid packages, subcontractor outreach, and pricing strategies.
- Present budgets and schedules to clients and internal teams.
- Mentor and support junior estimating and preconstruction staff.
