Job summary

Top Echelon Software, LLC. in Buffalo, NY seeks a Welding Engineer to own welding processes for precision components and to develop repeatable joining methods in a manufacturing setting.

You will work with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve weld integrity, productivity, and product performance. The role requires hands-on welding process development, materials assessment, and qualification support, with a focus on reducing defects and optimizing manufacturability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
• Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting welding processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of welding metallurgy, engineering drawings, weld symbols, inspection methods, and process documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and optimize welding procedures, process parameters, joint preparation, tooling, and fixturing for new and existing products.
• Evaluate materials, joint designs, heat input, distortion, and weldability to establish reliable production processes.
• Support procedure and welder qualification activities and maintain the associated technical records against applicable customer and industry requirements.
• Investigate weld defects and process variation; lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions with manufacturing and quality.
• Partner with design engineers to improve joint accessibility, manufacturability, and assembly consistency.
• Plan welding trials and support inspection, testing, process validation, and the transfer of new products into production.
• Train production personnel on approved methods and prepare work instructions, acceptance criteria, and process controls.
• Evaluate welding equipment and process improvements that reduce scrap, rework, and cycle time while supporting safe operations.
