Professional Recruiting Consultants, Inc. is working with a client in Buffalo, NY to hire a Welding Engineer responsible for owning welding processes and improving weld integrity and productivity.

You will develop procedures, evaluate materials and designs, support qualifications, and lead root-cause analysis with manufacturing and quality teams. This role requires hands-on welding expertise in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting welding processes in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of welding metallurgy, drawings and weld symbols, inspection methods, and process documentation.
• Ability to analyze technical problems and communicate corrective actions with production teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and optimize welding procedures, process parameters, joint prep, tooling, and fixturing for new and existing products.
• Evaluate materials, joint designs, heat input, distortion, and weldability to establish reliable production processes.
• Support procedure and welder qualification activities and maintain technical records.
• Investigate weld defects and process variation; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Partner with design engineers to improve joint accessibility, manufacturability, and assembly consistency.
• Plan welding trials and support inspection, testing, process validation, and transfer to production.
• Train production personnel on approved methods and prepare work instructions, acceptance criteria, and process controls.
• Evaluate welding equipment and process improvements that reduce scrap, rework, and cycle time while supporting safe operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet quality standards and delivery schedules.
