Job summary

Ashton North LLC is seeking a Welding Engineer to own welding processes for precision components, improve weld integrity, and drive productivity across manufacturing lines. You will develop repeatable joining methods and partner with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to resolve production challenges.

The role requires hands-on program development, expertise in welding metallurgy, and strong communication to document procedures and train production personnel.

Qualifications

• Requires hands-on experience developing and troubleshooting welding processes in manufacturing.
• Experience with welding metallurgy, fabrication drawings, and weld symbols.
• Ability to analyze technical problems and communicate clear corrective actions to production teams.
• Knowledge of inspection methods and process documentation.
• Strong collaboration with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to improve weld integrity and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and optimize welding procedures, parameters, joint prep, tooling, and fixturing for products.
• Evaluate materials, joint designs, heat input, distortion, and weldability for reliable processes.
• Support procedure and welder qualification activities and maintain technical records.
• Investigate weld defects and process variation; lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with design engineers to improve accessibility, manufacturability, and assembly consistency.
• Plan welding trials and support inspection, testing, process validation, and transfer to production.
• Train production personnel on approved methods and prepare work instructions and process controls.
• Evaluate equipment and process improvements to reduce scrap, rework, and cycle time while ensuring safe operations.
• Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
