Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Welder/Fabricator in Eugene, OR for a contract-to-hire role in a custom metal shop. You will weld carbon steel using MIG and FCAW, read prints, and perform precision layout and fitting.

The candidate will also TIG weld aluminum, fabricate structures, and maintain safety and quality in a busy shop. You’ll work in a small to mid-size shop, with a family-style culture and emphasis on hands-on production, attention to detail, and independent work from prints.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in structural weld shop or similar fabrication setting.
• MIG welding on carbon steel in fabrication environments.
• FCAW welding experience on structural/fabricated parts.
• Ability to read weld symbols, blueprints, and layout drawings.
• Layout and fit-up of steel parts prior to welding.
• Weld in 1G, 2G, 3G positions (horizontal, flat, vertical).
• TIG welding on aluminum per project specs.
• Strong detail orientation and quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Weld and fit carbon steel components in a custom job shop.
• Meet tight tolerances up to 0.0060 inches.
• Read blueprints and plan fabrication tasks from prints.
• Layout and fit-up of structural parts before welding.
• Perform TIG on aluminum and MIG/FCAW on steel.
• Fabricate steel structures per specs and safety rules.
• Maintain safety and quality in a busy shop, collaborate with team.
