Job summary

Orchid in Oregon City is seeking an Operations Technician II, Manual Production to perform various operations including straightening, buffing, and grinding on parts to achieve the required dimensional specifications. They are also cross-trained on and can perform numerous operations within manual production without supervision.

The role emphasizes safety, quality, and Lean Manufacturing, with a requirement for High School or equivalent and 1+ year of manufacturing experience.

Qualifications

• High School Or Equivalent (Preferred).
• Manufacturing Experience (Preferred).
• 1+ Year Prior Work Experience (Required).
• Operations Experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform Visual & Dimensional Inspection of castings per tech card using tools such as hand grinding equipment and measuring tools.
• Confirm discrepancies using calipers, pin gauges and surface profilometers as required.
• Rework discrepancies per tech card and route to salvage with proper documentation.
• Review rework and scrap castings with department lead.
• Identify and record as 'Scrap' all castings not meeting specifications after rework.
• Route scrap castings to designated area.
• Complete necessary documentation including process routing cards and scrap tags.
• Perform or assist in training personnel as directed by supervisory staff.
• Transport products safely using hand trucks and carts.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and report faulty equipment or material.
• Follow safety rules and support Lean Manufacturing and EHS initiatives.
• Dimensionally inspect work with calipers, gauges and surface plates as required.
• Perform weekly housekeeping per 5S.
• Follow work orders and perform operations on various parts and products.
