Job summary

AMETEK in Bridgeport, CT is seeking an experienced Tool and Die maker to assist in building and repairing dies, fixtures, jigs and tooling, with a focus on quality and precision.

You will read blueprints, set up CNC centers and manual machines, train apprentices, and ensure all work aligns to print and safety procedures. This hourly role requires meticulous craftsmanship and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in tool and die making.
• High school diploma or GED; vocational or apprenticeship preferred.
• Proficient in CAD/CAM and tooling terminology.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints or work from verbal or written instructions.
• Produce jigs and assembly fixtures and tooling with no instruction for use with surgical instrumentation and implants.
• Assist in training for new Toolmakers and Apprentices.
• Set-up & Operate CNC machining centers as well as manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other tool room equipment as necessary.
• Responsible for ensuring all assigned fixtures, assemblies, and tools are inspected to print and all documentation is recorded to department procedures.
• Leads and plans the setup and operation of assigned types of machine shop tools, considering materials, tolerances, cutting tools, coolants, lubricants, and machine tool feeds and speeds.
• Ability to perform and complete complex tasks and provide ETA of completion without assistance.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose problems and perform re-work or repair of fixturing.
• Complete required preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain a clean work area and assure safe operation of all equipment.
• Follow policies and procedures and take safety precautions to reduce risk of injury.
• Complete essential documentation as required.
