Job summary

Alfa Laval Mid Europe GmbH is seeking an on-site technician at our Greenwood, Indiana Service Centre to repair and recondition machines. You will disassemble, inspect, repair, test, and reassemble units to meet specifications, using drawings, blueprints, and test stands.

You will balance rotating equipment and document results, with occasional field service. A High School diploma and 3 years in manual repair are typical requirements; forklift and crane experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Typically 3 years manual repair/workshop/manufacturing environment.
• Experience operating forklift trucks, hand pallet jacks and overhead cranes.
• Experience with vibration analyzing / balancing equipment a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, drawings and work instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to use micrometers and gauges (English/Metric).
• Demonstrated mechanical problem diagnosis and welding knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment receipt, uncrate, clean, strip and tear down units.
• Inspect, repair, service, test and package following policies, procedures and safety guidelines.
• Use drawings and parts lists to estimate repair costs, time and materials needed.
• Set up and operate test stands and related equipment.
• Balance rotating equipment using approved balancing methods.
• Record test results on appropriate documents and follow the quality plan to repair products.
• Diagnose mechanical problems and adjust using various tools and approved methods.
• Move materials within the shop and communicate replenishment needs to supervision.
• Keep the work area clean and organized, and perform housekeeping as needed.
• Paint, pack, crate, and document shipment of units and parts.
• May perform some field service work occasionally.
