Candidates should have an associate degree or 60 lab credits with chemistry and biology, plus 1 year histology/grossing experience. Must be computer literate, able to operate LIS, and maintain safety and labeling accuracy.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 credits with chemistry/biology required.
• 1 year of clinical histology/grossing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of biology, chemistry, histology, immunology, and math.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and grossly inspects specimen for histopathology.
• Grossly examines and documents receipt of cytology specimens.
• Records detailed gross examination findings and specimen counts.
• Prepares small biopsy for histologic processing.
• Follows tissue processing protocols and safety measures.
• Maintains organized lab bench and labeling accuracy.
• Operates LIS and verifies accession numbers on cassettes.
• Participates in quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
