Qualifications

• Must be computer literate and able to operate multiple Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains diagnostic viability of specimens and ensures correct labeling.
• Sorts and accessiones pathology specimens.
• Initiates daily grossing log with patient name, accession#, and slide protocol notes.
• Prepares specimen cassettes and organizes slides for pathologists.
• Identifies problems and escalates to senior staff; troubleshoots with supervision.
• Responds to requests from endoscopy centers and physicians related to pathology.
• Files and inventories patient slides and blocks; manages lab supply inventory.
• Maintains lab equipment through upkeep and quality control logs.
• Participates in continuing education and in-service training.
• Follows department policies on quality assurance, safety, environment and infection control.
