Job summary

Eye Center of north Florida is seeking an Optical Technician to deliver quality optical care to pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients. You will assist with eyeglasses ordering and fittings, demonstrate products, and ensure accurate prescriptions are translated into the final eyewear.

Qualifications

• Associates must possess either a High School Diploma or GED.
• 2 years of eyecare experience required.
• Eye-care knowledge including measurements and lens/frames selection.
• ABO/NCLE or Apprentice Dispensing Optician license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interpret prescriptions and communicate with physicians.
• Measure bridge size, eye size, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers.
• Assist in selecting frames, coordinate with facial measurements and prescriptions.
• Recommend lenses, coatings, and frames to suit patient needs.
• Create lab work orders to deliver correct lenses.
• Adjust and repair frames; educate on wear and care of eyewear and contacts.
• Track orders, prescriptions, and inventory; assist with displays.
• Attend training workshops and maintain professional knowledge.
