Job summary

gpac seeks a skilled tool and die maker in Detroit, MI to produce tools, dies, and guiding devices for a variety of products. You will read blueprints, plan operations, and collaborate with programmers to complete projects.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, blueprint reading, and the ability to work independently under deadlines. Extended hours and safety precautions are part of the shop environment.

Qualifications

• High school or vocational education including math, blueprint reading, metalworking and drafting.

Responsibilities

• Plan the sequence of operations from blueprints to manufacture the tool or die.
• Use hand tools for fitting and assembling gauges and other equipment.
• Complete a die to a realistic promise date and produce samples per customer specs.
• Make prototype molds from materials (aluminum, bronze, etc.).
• Communicate with programmers daily to complete projects.
• Promote guest relations and maintain confidentiality.
