Job summary

Flex-N-Gate Detroit is seeking a skilled Tool Maker to build, repair, and maintain precision tooling used in automotive component production. You will work from engineering drawings to produce tooling that meets exacting standards, coordinating with Engineering, Production, and Maintenance teams for safe, efficient operations.

The role requires craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the ability to read CAD blueprints and use traditional measuring tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required and completed Tool & Die apprenticeship or equivalent training.
• 3+ years of experience as a Tool Maker in automotive or high-volume manufacturing.
• Ability to read blueprints/CAD drawings and use precision measuring tools.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture new tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and molds from blueprints or CAD data.
• Repair and maintain tooling to minimize downtime and ensure quality.
• Operate manual and CNC machines including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDMs.
• Measure parts with micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify tolerances.
• Interpret drawings and work instructions and support production teams.
