Qualifications

• Journeyman certification or 3+ years of manual machining experience.
• Strong experience with manual lathes and conventional milling machines.
• Hands-on grinding, drilling, tapping and machining blocks/components.
• Experience with tooling, stamping, progressive dies and forming processes.
• Familiarity with CNC machinery preferred and blueprints reading ability.
• Knowledge of precision measurement tools and tolerances.
• Experience fabricating, repairing and maintaining tools/dies.
• Commitment to safety and a clean working environment.
• Willingness to assist with apprentice training as needed.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate conventional machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders and drill presses.
• Perform manual machining, turning, grinding, drilling, tapping and finishing operations.
• Fabricate, repair, modify and maintain tools, dies, jigs, gauges and fixtures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches and specs.
• Machine blocks/components to precise dimensions and tolerances.
• Use precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers and dial indicators.
• Work with stamping, progressive dies, die cutting and forming processes.
• Fit, assemble, adjust and test tools and dies for proper operation.
• Inspect finished components for dimensional accuracy and surface quality.
• Select metals/alloys based on strength, hardness and heat-resistance.
• Perform finishing operations like filing and polishing for proper fit.
• Design and fabricate jigs, fixtures and work aids as needed.
• Perform heat-treating operations when required.
• Troubleshoot machining/tooling issues and propose solutions.
• Document machining and maintenance activities in CMMS.
• Maintain a safe, clean work area and participate in training as needed.
