Job summary

GPC is seeking an experienced machinist to set up, operate, and adjust conventional and automatic machines to produce replacement and prototype parts. You will interpret drawings, measure parts with micrometers and calipers, and ensure conformance to specs while maintaining tools and equipment.

The role requires 2–4 years of shop experience or an equivalent combination, with knowledge of metals, CAD/CAM software, and math applied to manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 2–4 years of shop experience or equivalent.
• Proficient in reading drawings and applying geometric tolerances.
• Familiarity with micrometers, Vernier calipers and other precision gauges.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, shapers and grinders to produce parts.
• Inspect parts using precision instruments to ensure specifications.
• Read blueprints and determine operation sequences.
• Fabricate parts from sheet metal and Lexan as needed.
• Install or repair parts and equipment and verify lubrication and cooling.
