Job summary

Motion Industries is seeking a skilled machinist to set up, operate and adjust lathes, milling machines, grinders and other precision equipment.

You will read drawings and written instructions to produce replacement parts, repair components, and contribute to prototypes, while ensuring parts meet exact tolerances.

Strong measurement skills with micrometers and calipers, plus CAD/CAM awareness, are preferred for efficient, safe production in a hands-on shop environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of metals and measurements used in machining
• Knowledge of machinist, CAD and CAM software
• Knowledge of mathematics and its application in machining
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes and quality control
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints with precision
• Ability to safely use tools like piranha, metal shear, and metal breaks

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, shapers and grinders
• Measure, test and verify parts using micrometers, calipers and gauges
• Monitor machine feeds and speeds to ensure quality and accuracy
• Read drawings and engineering information to determine operation sequences
• Facility maintenance: keep tools and machines in good working order
• Design fixtures or tooling to meet engineering needs
• Install repaired parts or assemblies into equipment and verify operation
