Job summary

KLA in Hayward, CA is seeking a Manual Machinist / Precision Assembly Technician to support manufacture, assembly, testing, and improvement of high-precision air bearing spindle systems. You will machine, fit, assemble, inspect, and test components to tight tolerances with drawings and process docs.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of related experience, familiarity with GD&T, basic metrology tools, and a hands-on approach to quality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical school or apprenticeship preferred.
• Ability to read GD&T and mechanical drawings.
• Experience with air bearing spindle systems.
• Experience assembling spindles, motors, or precision stages.
• Knowledge of balancing, vibration and performance testing.
• Experience with test stands and metrology equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate manual machine tools (lathes, mills, grinders).
• Assemble and align high-precision spindle assemblies.
• Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges.
• Test assemblies and verify performance.
• Document inspection and test results.
• Maintain production records.
