Job summary

Mid-State Machine is seeking a Manual Machinist to machine parts using lathes, horizontal and vertical boring mills, knee-mills, grinders, and saws. The role is in a fast-paced shop with long hours and potential call-outs.

Responsibilities include turning, drilling, boring, threading, and measuring parts with high precision. Candidates must read blueprints and follow strict safety protocols while handling heavy parts and operating diverse equipment.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Understanding machining techniques: turning, milling, grinding, drilling.
• Knowledge of metals and how they behave during machining.
• Familiarity with precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
• Proficient in operating CNC machines, lathes, mills and related equipment.
• Ability to troubleshoot machine issues and maintain quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform turning, threading, boring and facing on various sizes of lathes.
• Operate a large horizontal boring mill for drilling and boring work.
• Handle turning, boring and facing operations on large vertical boring mills.
• Use saws, grinders, shapers, and threading machines safely.
• Measure dimensions with micrometers/calipers to tight tolerances.
• Follow shop safety rules and assist with shop improvements.
