Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. is seeking a seasoned Shop Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations in our manufacturing facility.

You will oversee performance, ensure safety, coach staff, and drive on-time production of precision components. Required: minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing; technical expertise in welding, metal fabrication, or machining; ability to read blueprints; strong leadership and communication skills; and a shop-floor presence.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in welding, metal fabrication, or machining; ability to read blueprints.
• Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management skills.
• Visible shop-floor presence; spend ~2/3 of shift on the floor.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Adaptable to changing priorities; detail-oriented and safety-focused.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Department Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring efficient workflow, safety compliance, and proper time-keeping.
• Employee Management: Oversee performance, coaching, and evaluations to support team development.
• Training & Development: Assist with onboarding and ongoing skill development for the team.
• Order Management: Expedite and prioritize shop orders to meet production schedules.
• Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with management and other departments for smooth processes.
• Workplace Safety & Maintenance: Ensure machines and work areas are clean, safe, and compliant.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and improvements.
• Problem-Solving: Address production or personnel issues promptly to avoid disruptions.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and regulations.
