Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear in Albemarle, NC is seeking a Manual Lathe Operator to join our manufacturing team. You will set up and operate lathes, mills, drills, and CNC machines according to process sheets and blueprints to produce precision power transmission components.

You will follow safety protocols, inspect finished parts with calipers and gauges, and maintain a clean, organized work area while collaborating with supervisors and teammates to meet daily production goals.

Qualifications

• Basic math and ability to read English instructions.
• Ability to lift and handle heavy items.
• Willingness to follow the company’s timekeeping policy and other policies.
• Ability to stand for an entire shift in a non-climate-controlled shop.
• Basic machining concepts and ability to use measurement devices.
• Collaborative team player and willingness to improve processes.
• Attention to detail and dependable work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Follow production instructions from sheets, blueprints, or verbal directions to meet targets.
• Install machine fixtures and align dies, punches, blades, or fixtures for safe operation.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, drills, presses, and CNC machines per specifications.
• Inspect finished products with calipers, micrometers, gauges to verify tolerances.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety; use PPE and crane/buddy system as needed.
• Assist in other areas or departments as needed.
