Job summary

Martin Sprocket & Gear, Inc. is seeking a Manual Lathe Operator in Albemarle, NC. The role requires reading English instructions, handling heavy parts, and performing precision machining with a focus on quality and reliability.

You will set up and operate lathes and CNC machines, inspect parts for tolerances, and adhere to safety protocols. Training is Monday–Friday, followed by 2nd shift duties with a 6% shift premium.

Qualifications

• Requires reading and following English instructions and logs.
• Ability to lift and handle heavy items.
• Must comply with company policies and timekeeping.
• Must be able to stand for a full shift in a non-climate-controlled shop.
• Fundamental machining concepts and use of measuring devices.

Responsibilities

• Follow production instructions from process sheets, blueprints, or supervisor guidance.
• Install machine fixtures to ensure safe operation.
• Set up and operate lathes, mills, drills, presses, and CNC machines per specs.
• Inspect finished parts with calipers, micrometers, and gauges for tolerances.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and wear PPE as required.
• Assist in other areas or departments as needed.
