Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Fairport, NY seeks a Precision Grinding Machinist to set up, operate and maintain precision grinding equipment to produce high-quality components powering breakthrough products. The role requires high attention to detail, strong math and the ability to work with engineering input.

You will work on 2nd or 3rd shift with overtime potential and a shift differential ($2 for B, $3 for C). A high school diploma is required, AS in optics or related field preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; AS degree preferred in optics or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 3+ years in independent machining operations with high-tolerance parts.
• Strong math skills and precise attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and disciplined adherence to procedures.
• Ability to work independently and with others; willingness to learn additional equipment.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate high-tolerance parts from detailed drawings or verbal descriptions.
• Collaborate with engineering and other teams to meet specifications.
• Interface with plant systems (document control, MES, etc.).
• Maintain schedules and records as required.
• Perform other duties as needed.
