Job summary

Rochester Precision Optics, LLC is seeking a CNC Operator 1 for the West Henrietta, NY facility. The role focuses on running CNC mills and lathes, loading materials, and ensuring part quality through basic in-process inspection using standard gauges.

Training on first shift precedes a 2nd shift with 5% differential. The position requires a High School Diploma or GED and prior CNC experience, plus ability to read blueprints and use basic inspection tools.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience operating CNC mills or lathes in manufacturing.
• Ability to read basic blueprints and interpret tolerances.
• Familiarity with standard inspection tools.
• Basic machining concepts, including feeds, speeds, and tool wear.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC mills and lathes using existing programs, setups, and work instructions.
• Load and unload raw materials, fixtures, and finished parts to support continuous production.
• Monitor machine operation and part quality during production runs, identifying issues.
• Make basic adjustments such as tool offsets or feed/speed changes when trained and authorized.
• Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring tools to verify specs.
• Complete production and inspection documentation per internal procedures.
• Communicate quality or equipment issues to supervision or leads.
