Job summary

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in pharmaceutical compounding, including sterile and non-sterile preparations, with strong skills in formulation, measurement, and quality assurance.
  • Solid knowledge of pharmacy regulations and standards (e.g., state pharmacy laws, USP guidelines) and ability to apply them consistently in daily practice.
  • Proficiency in prescription evaluation, clinical judgment, and medication safety, with attention to dosing accuracy and potential interactions.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with prescribers, patients, and pharmacy team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail for documentation, recordkeeping, and inventory management in a compounding setting.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent degree and active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Texas (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Experience in a compounding pharmacy or similar clinical pharmacy environment is highly preferred; familiarity with compounding equipment and software is beneficial.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care, adherence to safety and infection-control practices, and ongoing professional development in pharmacy and compounding.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, verify, and dispense customized medications in accordance with prescriptions and compounding protocols.
  • Review and interpret prescriptions, perform accurate calculations, and oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding.
  • Supervise and collaborate with pharmacy technicians; maintain documentation and inventory; participate in equipment and facility checks.
  • Counsel prescribers and patients on appropriate use of compounded therapies and support process improvements for safety and regulatory readiness.
