Job summary

Red River Pharmacy Services in Texarkana, Texas, is seeking a dedicated Staff Pharmacist with an interest in personalized medication therapy and non-sterile compounding. This full-time role offers daytime hours Monday–Friday with occasional weekend call, in a collaborative compounding setting.

Qualifications

  • Pharm.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited program.
  • Active Texas pharmacist license in good standing.
  • Licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Non-sterile compounding experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and dispense prescriptions accurately and safely.
  • Perform and oversee non-sterile compounding in accordance with applicable standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure compounded preparations meet established quality and accuracy requirements.
  • Provide medication counseling and education to patients and caregivers.
  • Communicate with prescribers regarding prescriptions, formulations, dosing, and patient-specific needs.
  • Monitor patient medication therapy and identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, or other concerns.
  • Maintain accurate prescription, compounding, and patient documentation.
  • Follow all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Maintain compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable compounding standards.
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians and other members of the pharmacy team.
  • Assist with daily pharmacy operations as needed.
  • Participate in the pharmacy's occasional weekend daytime call rotation.

Staff Pharmacist – Compounding

Location: Texarkana, Texas

Position: Full-Time Staff Pharmacist

Schedule: Monday–Friday | Daytime Hours with Occasional Weekend Call

Schedule
  • Full-time, Monday–Friday
  • Regular hours will range from 8:00 AM–5:30 PM or 10:00 AM–6:00 PM, depending on scheduling needs
  • Occasional weekend daytime call
  • Weekend call is limited to daytime hours
Responsibilities

  • Non-sterile compounding experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous compounding pharmacy experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile and non-sterile compounding techniques, and USP standards.
  • Clinical expertise in pharmacology, drug interactions, dosing, and medication safety within a specialized pharmacy setting.
  • Experience with pharmacy operations, including workflow management, order verification, and inventory control.
  • Ability to interpret and implement regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., state board of pharmacy, FDA, USP, and relevant safety regulations).
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with pharmacy staff, clinicians, and facility partners.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and consistent adherence to quality and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, electronic records, and basic computer applications.
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
  • Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Texas (or eligibility to obtain licensure promptly).
  • Prior experience in compounding pharmacy, nuclear pharmacy, or a similar specialized environment is preferred.
