Staff Pharmacist – Compounding
Location: Texarkana, Texas
Position: Full-Time Staff Pharmacist
Schedule: Monday–Friday | Daytime Hours with Occasional Weekend Call
Schedule
- Full-time, Monday–Friday
- Regular hours will range from 8:00 AM–5:30 PM or 10:00 AM–6:00 PM, depending on scheduling needs
- Occasional weekend daytime call
- Weekend call is limited to daytime hours
Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and dispense prescriptions accurately and safely.
- Perform and oversee non-sterile compounding in accordance with applicable standards, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure compounded preparations meet established quality and accuracy requirements.
- Provide medication counseling and education to patients and caregivers.
- Communicate with prescribers regarding prescriptions, formulations, dosing, and patient-specific needs.
- Monitor patient medication therapy and identify potential drug interactions, contraindications, or other concerns.
- Maintain accurate prescription, compounding, and patient documentation.
- Follow all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws and regulations.
- Maintain compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and applicable compounding standards.
- Work collaboratively with pharmacy technicians and other members of the pharmacy team.
- Assist with daily pharmacy operations as needed.
- Participate in the pharmacy's occasional weekend daytime call rotation.
Qualifications
- Pharm.D. or equivalent pharmacy degree from an accredited program.
- Active Texas pharmacist license in good standing.
- Licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Non-sterile compounding experience strongly preferred.
- Previous compounding pharmacy experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of sterile and non-sterile compounding techniques, and USP standards.
- Clinical expertise in pharmacology, drug interactions, dosing, and medication safety within a specialized pharmacy setting.
- Experience with pharmacy operations, including workflow management, order verification, and inventory control.
- Ability to interpret and implement regulatory and accreditation requirements (e.g., state board of pharmacy, FDA, USP, and relevant safety regulations).
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with pharmacy staff, clinicians, and facility partners.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and consistent adherence to quality and safety protocols.
- Proficiency with pharmacy management systems, electronic records, and basic computer applications.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited institution.
- Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Texas (or eligibility to obtain licensure promptly).
- Prior experience in compounding pharmacy, nuclear pharmacy, or a similar specialized environment is preferred.
