Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Kansas City, MO is seeking an assembly technician to operate on production lines, using hand, power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools to assemble and disassemble components. You will report to production supervisors and leads and collaborate with quality control, maintenance, and engineering teams.

The role emphasizes safety, attention to detail, cross-training, and adherence to SOPs, with a daytime schedule and potential overtime on Fridays and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent preferred
• Knowledge of basic mechanics, hand tools, and machine testing procedures
• Preferred: 1+ year of experience performing mechanical jobs, assembly and disassembly.
• Experience with overhead crane is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Follow detailed assembly/disassembly instructions, processes and procedures
• Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies
• Disassembles components by utilizing hand and power tools
• Cleans and buffs components
• Wash components in solvent and run parts through parts washer
• Blowout parts to remove solvent and dirt
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with 5S protocol
• Make sure that schedules are running exactly as they are listed
• Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs)
• Turn off equipment when not in use
• Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
• Must be willing to cross train
• Follow safety protocols and adhere to all PPE requirements
• Perform other duties as assigned
