Job summary

Wabtec in Kansas City, MO is seeking an Assembly Technician to operate within production lines alongside skilled teams. You will follow detailed assembly and disassembly instructions, use hand, power, pneumatic, and hydraulic tools, and maintain quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities include assembling components, cleaning and buffing parts, and maintaining a clean, 5S-compliant workspace while adhering to SOPs and JSA guidelines. Flexibility for overtime on Fridays/Saturdays is possible.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of basic mechanics, hand tools, and machine testing procedures.
• Preferred: 1+ year of experience performing mechanical jobs, assembly and disassembly.
• Experience with overhead crane is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Follow detailed assembly/disassembly instructions, processes and procedures.
• Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit, fastening parts and subassemblies.
• Disassembles components by utilizing hand and power tools.
• Cleans and buffs components.
• Wash components in solvent and run parts through parts washer.
• Blowout parts to remove solvent and dirt.
• Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with 5S protocol.
• Make sure that schedules are running exactly as they are listed.
• Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
• Turn off equipment when not in use.
• Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be willing to cross train.
• Follow safety protocols and adhere to all PPE requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
