Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Precast Concrete Inspector I to conduct plant quality control on precast and prestressed concrete. You will inspect forms, reinforcement, and casts before pours, verify strand tensioning records, and run fresh concrete tests per ASTM C31.

The role requires PCI Level I or ACI Grade I initially, with travel between plants and early production shifts. You’ll document results, ensure pieces meet shop drawings, and tag for shipment or repair.

Qualifications

• Reads shop drawings and interprets calculations to verify forms and reinforcement.
• Must be consistent, careful, and honest with the numbers shown in records.
• Willingness to work early production shifts and travel between plants as needed.

Responsibilities

• Inspect forms, reinforcement, embeds, and blockouts against shop drawings before each pour.
• Verify strand tensioning elongation and force records against calculated values.
• Run fresh concrete tests (slump, air, temperature, unit weight) and cast cylinders per ASTM C31.
• Perform stripping and release strength tests and record results against required values.
• Inspect finished products for dimensions, camber, finish, and defects; tag for shipment or repair.
