Job summary

Denton County is seeking a professional to supervise adults on Pre-trial bond conditions, monitor compliance, and maintain detailed records. The role involves collaborating with law enforcement, the courts, and service providers to address probationers’ needs and ensure safe community supervision.

Responsibilities include conducting meetings, collecting reports, and using NCIC for background checks. Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• If the degree is not in criminology, corrections, counseling, law, social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field approved by the Director, one year of graduate study or one year of full-time related experience.
• Cannot be employed as a Peace Officer.
• Cannot currently be on community supervision, parole, or serving a sentence.

Responsibilities

• Meet with probationers in the office or at their residences, advising them on supervision agreements and ensuring adherence.
• Maintain individual case files, recording contacts, reports, and changes in residence, employment, or criminal history.
• Utilize terminals connected to NCIC and contact law enforcement to obtain criminal history and current charges.
• Assess risk of violations, determine supervision levels, and set reporting schedules.
• Enter, store, and retrieve case information and summarize for reports.
• Confer with district attorney’s office, judges, and law enforcement; testify in court as needed.
• Collaborate with counselors to address probationers’ needs.
• Install electronic monitoring equipment to verify residence location when appropriate.
• Obtain urine samples for drug-use analysis.
• Use Spanish when necessary to assist clients who cannot communicate in English.
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
• Perform other related duties as required.
