Job summary

Denton County is seeking a Juvenile Supervision Officer to provide professional correction work, supervising youths placed in detention or programs by the courts. The role includes maintaining safety, supervising daily activities, and coordinating transport between facilities and schools or medical sites.

The officer will keep case files, perform data entry, and work with counselors to address youths’ needs and progress.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• No disqualifying criminal history as described in TAC.
• Pass the certification exam as required.
• Certification as Juvenile Supervision Officer within six months of employment.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license; ability to obtain Texas license within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervise detained or referred youth and maintain safety.
• Maintain individual case files and record contacts.
• Enter, store, and retrieve information using data entry and word processing tools.
• Confer with counselors and professionals to track youth needs and progress.
• Ensure juveniles are searched and have calls to relatives or attorneys.
• Transport juveniles between detention facilities and medical or educational sites.
• Summarize information and complete reports from observations and sources.
• Oversee youth in alternative education and supervise daily activities.
• Complete incident reports and implement positive reinforcement measures.
• Maintain overall safety of students, staff, and program; attend to duties as assigned.
