Job summary

Blanchard Valley Health System is seeking a Pre-Surgery Scheduling Coordinator to manage surgery schedules, pre-certify procedures, and coordinate pre-surgery testing. The role educates patients and families and collaborates with the surgery department and supply reps.

The position requires a high school diploma and strong computer/phone skills, with emphasis on accurate data and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Proficient with computer use for long periods and keyboard skills.
• Ability to respond to customers by telephone while using computer and phone simultaneously.
• Position may require work at different BVMP Practice locations as needed.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; positive service orientation.
• Must understand growth and development across the lifespan to provide age-appropriate care.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer education on all tests and procedures.
• Coordinates provider’s surgery schedules.
• Verifies patient demographics and completes insurance/second opinion processes.
• Ensures completeness of pre-operative data.
• Provides peri-operative education to patients and families.
• Notifies departments of preparatory interventions and treatments.
• Participates in planning education needs within the department.
• Completes annual competency and documentation requirements.
• Provides training for assigned projects.
• Maintains positive image of department and organization; keeps director informed.
