Job summary

Mixpanel is seeking a Customer Engineer to lead the pre-sales technical journey — from discovery and technical fit assessment through competitive positioning, demo, and POC.

You establish whether Mixpanel is the right technical fit before committing to a proof of concept, and when you do run one, you design it to be immediately actionable by the Delivery Engineer: focus metric defined, data validated, success criteria agreed upon.

Qualifications

• 2–4+ years in Solutions Engineering or technical pre-sales at a B2B SaaS company.
• Technical foundation in data analytics, event tracking, APIs, data warehouses.
• Commercial instinct and ability to run structured POCs with measurable outcomes.
• Clear, compelling communication to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Competitive knowledge of analytics landscape and ability to build it quickly.
• Humble, hungry, smart, and accountable.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery, establishing challenges and qualification before a POC.
• Design and deliver tailored, research-backed demos linking Mixpanel to business outcomes.
• Confirm technical fit and scope meaningful proofs before POC start.
• Own competitive technical positioning against alternatives.
• Run structured POCs with defined success criteria and handoff packages.
• Return post-sale for cross-sell and expansion requiring new evaluations.
• Partner with Account Executives on deal strategy and technical objections.
• Stay close to Delivery Engineers to reflect production realities in POCs.
