Job summary

Planet seeks a Pre-Sales Sr. Solutions Architect to design complex solutions using Planet’s data for the US Defense and Intelligence community. You’ll collaborate across Customer Success, Product Management, and Business Development to voice the customer and enhance offerings.

The role is full-time and hybrid, based in Washington, DC (Arlington, VA) three days per week with up to 25% travel. You’ll mentor others and engage with senior government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6+ years of experience supporting US Defense/Intelligence in a technical capacity.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Willingness to travel up to 25% (international travel possible).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with GIS/Remote Sensing for Defense applications.
• Familiarity with IMINT/ISR and geospatial software.
• Ability to design and present complex systems bridging business and tech.

Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver solution demonstrations highlighting Planet’s data value.
• Build relationships with customer technical and management staff as trusted advisor.
• Recommend architectures aligned with business challenges.
• Prepare technical responses to tenders, RFIs/RFPs, and proposals.
• Collaborate with Sales to drive technical strategy across accounts.
• Support RFP/RFI prep with internal teams.
• Meet quarterly and annual sales and operational goals.
• Present to US Federal Government stakeholders.
• Mentor team members and lead training sessions.
