Job Description:

Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • File Preparation & Review: Prepare and maintain comprehensive parole files, gathering and evaluating case information to summarize direct rating reports for Parole Board members.
  • Board Guidelines Application: Review cases using Board-established criteria to determine whether offenders can be safely released on parole.
  • Summaries constructed by the Criminal Investigator include: Summary of Relevant Correspondence Pre-Parole Investigation materials Parole Review Summary from the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Work materials from the Grid System (including Crime Severity Level, Grid Sheet, and Recommended Months to Serve) Crime details and aggravating/mitigating circumstances pertinent to Board consideration
  • Serve as Duty Officer after hours and on weekends to ensure continuous agency coverage for emergency situations.
  • Meet with members of general public and family members who inquire about offender parole cases on check on parole status.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, Georgia P.O.S.T. certification, and two (2) years of related experience; or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and four (4) years of experience in law enforcement or related field; or Georgia P.O.S.T. certification and one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Criminal Investigator 2 (PSP091) or position equivalent.--Note: Some positions may require the incumbent to have a valid Class C driver's license.
