Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field and GA POST certification with two years of related experience.
  • GA POST certification with four years of experience in law enforcement or related field.
  • GA POST certification with one year of experience at the Criminal Investigator 2 level or position equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain parole files with relevant materials for Parole Board review.
  • Review cases to determine safe parole release using board criteria.
  • Summarize investigation data for board decisions.
  • Serve as Duty Officer after hours and on weekends.
  • Meet with public and families to discuss parole status.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Hearing Examiners play a critical role in gathering, analyzing, and summarizing investigative data to guide the Parole Board in making informed, public-safety-driven parole decisions.Key Responsibilities & DutiesFile Preparation & Review: Prepare and maintain comprehensive parole files, gathering and evaluating case information to summarize direct rating reports for Parole Board members.Board Guidelines Application: Review cases using Board-established criteria to determine whether offenders can be safely released on parole.
