Job summary

HCA Florida Westside Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the operating room team in Florida. The role emphasizes evidence-based practice, patient safety, and collaborative care with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff.

Responsibilities include preoperative evaluation, patient education, IV therapy, site verification, and participation in safety protocols. On-call duties may apply; four weeks scheduling previews assist predictability.

Qualifications

• ACLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• RN license (registered nurse) is required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing is required.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery.
• Provide patient and family education about the procedure and peri-operative process.
• Prepare patients for surgery including IV therapy, preoperative medications and surgical site verification.
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing and universal protocols.
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while applying evidence-based practices and improvement initiatives.
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team (providers, surgeons, surgical technologists, etc.).
• Consistently apply nursing process, critical thinking, and leadership to deliver safe care.
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout shift, and document changes and care provided.
• Educate patients and families about medical conditions, treatment and follow-up.
