Job summary

Connecticut Orthopaedic Surgery Center in Milford, CT, seeks a Per Diem Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse to join our ambulatory surgery center team. You will provide direct nursing care in pre-operative and post-anesthesia care areas and rotate into the pain management procedure room, supporting perioperative nursing, recovery, pain management and patient teaching.

Candidates should have PACU/CCU experience and ambulatory surgery center experience is a plus; BLS and ACLS are required, with PALS

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in pre-op and PACU.

Position Description

The PACU Registered nurse position is responsible for direct nursing care of patients in the pre-operative, post anesthesia care unit and will rotate into the pain management procedure room. The PACU Registered Nurse is knowledgeable in all areas of perioperative nursing, post anesthesia recovery, pain, and patient teaching.

Requirements

• PACU/Critical Care experience preferred.
• Ambulatory surgery center experience a plus.
• Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of a Pre-op/PACU nurse.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required. PALS within 3 months of hire.
• A knowledge of aseptic technique, anesthetic agents and complications, and the ability to handle emergency situations in a professional manner.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and have an ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English.
• Possess strong organizational skills, and a clear understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery center.
