Job summary

Connecticut Orthopaedic Surgery Center LLC seeks an experienced Per Diem Pre-Op/PACU Registered Nurse for our Milford ASC. You will care for patients in pre-op and PACU, and rotate into the pain management area, ensuring safe recovery and nurse-led education.

Required BLS/ACLS, PALS within 3 months, and strong communication with physicians and staff. English fluency, aseptic technique, and organizational skills are essential for efficient, cost-aware care.

Qualifications

• PACU/Critical Care experience preferred.
• Ambulatory surgery center experience a plus.
• Knowledge of perioperative nursing and post-anesthesia care.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; PALS within 3 months of hire.
• Good communication with physicians and staff.
• Must speak/read/write English.
• Strong organizational skills; efficiency and cost awareness in ASC.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in pre-operative and post-anesthesia care units.
• Rotate into the pain management procedure room as needed.
• Monitor patient recovery, manage pain, and educate patients.
• Maintain aseptic technique and prepare for emergencies with composure.

Position Description

The PACU Registered nurse position is responsible for direct nursing care of patients in the pre-operative, post anesthesia care unit and will rotate into the pain management procedure room. The PACU Registered Nurse is knowledgeable in all areas of perioperative nursing, post anesthesia recovery, pain, and patient teaching.

Requirements

• PACU/Critical Care experience preferred.
• Ambulatory surgery center experience a plus.
• Knowledge and clinical skills to perform the job duties of a Pre-op/PACU nurse.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required. PALS within 3 months of hire.
• A knowledge of aseptic technique, anesthetic agents and complications, and the ability to handle emergency situations in a professional manner.
• Must be able to communicate effectively and have an ability to work compatibly with all physicians and staff.
• Must be able to speak, read and write English.
• Possess strong organizational skills, and a clear understanding of the importance of efficiency and cost effectiveness in an ambulatory surgery center.
