Job summary

River Valley Regional YMCA in Sayre is seeking an Assistant Child Care Teacher to support a developmentally appropriate daily program for preschoolers. Under the Lead Teacher, you will help plan activities, maintain a safe classroom, and communicate with families to promote each child's growth and well-being.

The role requires a HS diploma or GED, two years of related experience, and timely CPR/First Aid/AED certification along with PDE compliance.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED plus two years' related child care experience.
• Ability to obtain Act 33 clearance and child abuse history documentation.
• Biannual physical, TB test, and no infectious disease.
• Ability to work with young children and colleagues.
• Must be 18+, CPR/First Aid/AED and mandated reporter training within 30 days.
• Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Experience with diverse populations and building positive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist in establishing a safe, healthful learning environment with organized classrooms.
• Maintain equipment in good repair and store safely; sanitize toys and cots.
• Provide developmentally appropriate materials and multi-sensory activities.
• Support children's social-emotional development and positive guidance.
• Plan for group activities, free play, and self-help skills; supervise as needed.
• Maintain contact with families; document attendance and meals; participate in staff meetings.
• Assist in curriculum planning with multicultural materials and nutrition integration.
• Report suspected child abuse to the Director and follow dress code and policies.
