Job summary

River Valley Regional YMCA seeks an Assistant Teacher to support planning and implementation of a developmentally appropriate daily program for enrolled children. Working under the Lead Teacher, you will help create a safe, engaging classroom and maintain open communication with families and staff.

The role emphasizes teamwork, child supervision, and adherence to health, safety, and program policies, including age-appropriate activities and inclusive learning environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; two years related child care experience preferred.
• Completion of CPR/First Aid and AED certifications within 30 days of hire.
• Act 33/CHRI background checks and FBI fingerprinting required.
• Must be at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Assists in establishing and maintaining a safe and healthful learning environment.
• Supports planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities.
• Maintains contact with parents and program staff in a courteous manner.
• Assists with curriculum planning and classroom setup for multi-sensory activities.
• Provides supervision and positive guidance to children during all activities.
• Attends monthly staff meetings and maintains classroom records.
