Job summary

Volumetric Building Companies (VBC) is seeking a Pre-Construction Manager to support the U.S. Commercial Team with early project planning and client coordination throughout Phase 1 and 2 of the VBC Project Delivery Stream.

Lead cross-functional planning and ensure smooth handoffs to operations in later phases. Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in manufacturing or AEC project management, strong contract experience, and a track record of controlling schedules and budgets across complex modular

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or related field with 5+ years in manufacturing or AEC project management, or 10+ years with high school diploma.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams from design through manufacturing and delivery.
• Experience creating and managing project schedules and budgets.
• Experience reviewing complex client and subconsultant contracts.
• Experience identifying project risks including design, schedule, or other issues.
• Proficiency in interpreting large architectural/engineering drawings and schedules.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Project.
• Experience with SAP or ACC; familiarity with cloud CRM tools like HubSpot.

Responsibilities

• Support Business Development with client communications and act as a contact between VBC and client teams during Phase 1 & 2 of the PDS.
• Demonstrate understanding of PCSA terms and manage client-VBC relationships as per contract.
• Lead initial project planning and client transition with defined PDS deliverables.
• Collaborate on conceptual estimating, proposals, and client presentations.
• Communicate progress, risks, and costs clearly and proactively.
• Create a project plan aligning objectives with design milestones and manufacturing constraints.
• Provide monthly preconstruction cost analysis and budget management.
