Job summary

Toole Design, a leading transportation design firm in Raleigh, NC, seeks a Practice Lead to guide integrated transportation engineering and multimodal planning. You will mentor engineers and planners, lead business development, and shape the firm’s technical direction while remaining active on major projects.

You will report to the Engineering Director and collaborate with Design and Planning Directors to grow the practice and deliver safer, more equitable streets.

Qualifications

• Desire to lead a practice - not just a project.
• Strategic thinking for practice direction and growth.
• Commitment to technical excellence and senior guidance on complex projects.
• Ability to craft and communicate a vision bridging planning and engineering.
• 15+ years of transportation engineering and multimodal planning experience.
• Proven experience building and leading teams, programs, and projects.
• Experience in business development and client relationship growth.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development and annual growth targets with regional leadership.
• Oversee financial health through project delivery and staff development.
• Collaborate with leadership to advance practice priorities.
• Recruit and advise on hiring for local and firmwide growth.
• Drive training, innovation, and quality control within the team.
• Raise the practice's visibility and marketing efforts.
• Lead multimodal transportation planning and design projects.
