Job summary

Toole Design seeks a Practice Lead in Portland, OR to guide integrated transportation engineering and multimodal planning. You will mentor engineers and planners, shape the firm’s technical direction, and stay active on major projects strengthening client relationships.

This leadership role requires a drive to recruit and develop staff, advance practice priorities, and collaborate across design and planning directors. PE preferred; PTOE/AICP a plus.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of success on transportation engineering and multimodal planning projects.
• Experience leading integrated teams, delivering complex projects, and growing a transportation practice.
• Ability to recruit, mentor, and develop staff while guiding practice direction and client development.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development and practice planning to support annual growth targets with regional leadership.
• Oversee financial health through effective project delivery, workload management, and quality control.
• Provide leadership across transportation planning and engineering projects and strengthen client relationships.
