Job summary

Toole Design Group seeks a Practice Lead to guide its integrated transportation engineering and multimodal planning in Boston, MA. You will mentor engineers and planners, shape business development, and steer the firm’s technical direction while staying active on major projects.

Your role combines practice leadership with hands-on project delivery, reporting to Engineering Director and collaborating with Design and Planning Directors. A PE is preferred; PTOE/AICP credentials are advantageous.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of transportation engineering and multimodal planning experience.
• Proven ability to lead integrated teams and grow a transportation practice.
• PE license preferred; PTOE and/or AICP credentials a plus.
• Strong communication and mentoring to develop engineers and planners.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development and practice planning to meet annual growth targets.
• Support the practice's financial health through effective project delivery and staff development.
• Collaborate with leadership to advance practice priorities and growth goals.
• Recruit and advise on hiring to grow local and firmwide capabilities.
• Provide technical leadership on multimodal transportation planning and engineering projects.
