Job summary

Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP is seeking a Practice Group Business Manager to oversee the business and administration of one or more practice groups. You will work with the Practice Group Leader(s) and Senior Director of Practice Services to drive revenue growth, control expenses, improve profitability, and implement firm-wide initiatives at the practice level.

Qualifications

• BA/BS required; JD preferred.
• Experience with Insurance Services and/or Defense Litigation preferred.
• Five+ years in an operational, supervisory and/or management position in a professional office setting.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain clear and consistent lines of communication with the Practice Group Leader(s), COO, CFO, and other senior administrative team members.
• Prepare for and help conduct regular practice group meetings and other types of practice group gatherings and communications.
• Proactively manage the day-to-day operational running of the practice including taking a hands-on approach to identifying and implementing actions to address needs of practice(s).
• Supervise and monitor implementation of the practice group business plan.
• Act as liaison with Finance to generate and analyze financial reports and prepare summaries and briefings.
• Manage financial performance to ensure all key metrics are met and growth in revenue and profitability are supported.
• Gather and analyze economic data of the practice group and assess performance in partnership with the Practice Group Leader(s).
• Monitor attorney workload and utilization reports to identify productivity issues and counsel attorneys where appropriate.
