Job summary

KPIT is seeking an experienced Powertrain engineer to contribute to torque management, system analysis, and regulatory requirement elicitation for Conv/ePT architectures.

You will create DOORS artifacts, document propulsion modes, and shape energy conversion and EOL service requirements while collaborating in an Agile environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in conventional powertrain development; Diesel engines preferred.
  • Good understanding of overall vehicle dynamics and vehicle system functioning.
  • Good understanding of automotive electrical sensors and actuators, temperature sensors, pumps, valves.
  • Good understanding of thermal systems high/low/AC and battery temperature loop management.
  • Expertise with CAN and LIN protocols and OBD standards.
  • Experience in function analysis and function decomposition.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Proficiency in requirement management tools such as IBM DOORS, DOORS Next Gen.

Responsibilities

  • Required knowledge and work on torque management functionality for conv and ePT.
  • Perform powertrain function analysis and function decomposition.
  • Gather regulatory and environmental parameters and corporate specs.
  • Create high level functional requirements in IBM DOORS/DOORS Next Gen.
  • Identify propulsion system operating modes and document in DNG.
  • Develop energy conversion, storage and delivery requirements with standards/OBD in mind.
  • Define propulsion system EOL service requirements (IO, routine, DID).
  • Conduct powertrain thermal analysis to assess normal and de-rated performance across temp ranges.
  • Perform SFMEA for propulsion functions and identify safety requirements.
  • Participate in Agile planning and risk assessment.
  • Develop simulation/virtual models for propulsion features using MATLAB/SysML.

  • Required Knowledge and worked on Torque Management Functionality for Conv and ePT.
  • Knowledge on PT , ePT Transmission, and Driveline Torque Calculations.
  • Knowledge on engine functionalities for Air intake , Turbo, Intercooler, EGR, DPF , SCR , Cooling system, PTO, Ignition system , Charging system.
  • Performing powertrain function analysis and function decomposition
  • Requirement elicitation activities to gather Regulatory requirements, environmental and electrical parameters & associated corporate specifications etc.
  • Propulsion system high level functional requirement artifact creation in IBM DOORS/IBM DOORS Next Gen (DNG) including attribute classifications.
  • Propulsion System Operating Modes Identification, Analysis and Documentation in DNG.
  • Propulsion System energy conversion, storage and delivery understanding and requirement development considering standards and OBD compliance.
  • Propulsion system EOL Service requirements (IO,Routine,DID) defines for propulsion components
  • Powertrain Thermal System analysis to identify visually the normal, de-rated and non-functional performance for each component and determine possible Propulsion System functions for a given temperature range
  • Perform System Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (SFMEA) for Propulsion system functions and identify the safety requirement

  • Develop simulation/virtual models for specific propulsion features/functions using MATLAB, SysML Rhapsody.
