Job summary

MatchPoint seeks an experienced propulsion systems engineer to analyze and decompose powertrain functions, elicit regulatory and environmental requirements, and craft high-level DOORS artifacts. You will define propulsion operating modes and energy management while ensuring safety through SFMEA.

Responsibilities include modeling with MATLAB/SysML, integrating CAN/LIN protocols, and collaborating in an Agile environment to mitigate risks and deliver timely results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in conventional and hybrid powertrain development.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and overall system functioning.
  • Solid grasp of automotive electrical sensors and actuators.
  • Knowledge of gearbox management, energy management of high-voltage batteries, and HMI powertrain displays.
  • Understanding of Functional Safety and OBD standards.
  • Experience with CAN/LIN protocols and automotive communications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) and DOORS tools.
  • Experience with function analysis and function decomposition.

Responsibilities

  • Performing powertrain function analysis and function decomposition.
  • Gathering regulatory, environmental, and electrical requirements and corporate specs.
  • Creating propulsion system high-level functional requirement artifacts in DOORS/DNG.
  • Documenting Propulsion System Operating Modes and energy management.
  • Developing EOL service requirements for propulsion components.
  • Analyzing Powertrain Energy Management System performance.
  • Conducting SFMEA for propulsion functions and safety requirements.
  • Participating in Agile planning for RASI deliverables and risks.
  • Developing simulation/virtual models for propulsion features using MATLAB and SysML Rhapsody.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performing powertrain function analysis and function decomposition.
  • Requirement elicitation activities to gather Regulatory requirements, environmental and electrical parameters & associated corporate specifications etc.
  • Propulsion system high level functional requirement artifact creation in IBM DOORS/IBM DOORS Next Gen (DNG) including attribute classifications.
  • Propulsion System Operating Modes Identification, Analysis and Documentation in DNG.
  • Propulsion System energy conversion, storage and delivery understanding and requirement development considering standards and OBD compliance.
  • Propulsion system EOL Service requirements (IO, Routine, DID) defines for propulsion components.
  • Powertrain Energy Management System analysis to for nominal, de-rated and non-functional performance.
  • Perform System Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (SFMEA) for Propulsion system functions and identify the safety requirement.
  • Participate in Agile Methodology to plan RASI deliverable timing and identify potential risks.
  • Develop simulation/virtual models for specific propulsion features/functions using MATLAB, SysML Rhapsody.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Electronics Engineering or other related Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in conventional and hybrid powertrain development.
  • Good understanding on overall vehicle dynamics and vehicle system functioning.
  • Good understanding automotive electrical sensors and actuators.
  • Good understanding of functions like gearbox management, energy management of high-voltage batteries, vehicle’s modes related to its performance, ECU power cycles and displaying powertrain-related information to the user on the HMI.
  • Good understanding of Functional Safety.
  • Expertise with automotive communication protocols such as CAN and LIN along with OBD standards.
  • Experience in Function analysis and function decomposition.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS, IBM DOORS Next Gen etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Vector Tools for data collection.
  • Vehicle Validation or Powertrain Calibration experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management.
  • Experience with overall vehicle development cycle and Change management process.
  • Good communication skills, able to lead meetings with cross functional team.
