Job summary

MatchPoint is seeking a Powertrain Systems Engineer (Thermal) to lead analysis and requirement development for advanced propulsion systems. You will decompose functions, identify system operating modes, and craft DOORS artifacts for regulatory and environmental specs.

The role requires at least 5 years in conventional or hybrid powertrains, strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, and hands-on experience with CAN/LIN/OBD and thermal loops.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Electronics Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in conventional and hybrid powertrain development.
  • Knowledge of CAN/LIN/OBD protocols and vehicle dynamics.
  • Experience with IBM Rational DOORS/DOORS Next Gen and SysML.
  • Proficient with MATLAB and model-based engineering tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform powertrain function analysis and decomposition.
  • Elicit requirements for regulatory, environmental and electrical parameters.
  • Create high level propulsion system requirements artifacts in DOORS/DNG.
  • Document propulsion system operating modes and energy management.
  • Develop thermal system analyses to assess performance across temperature ranges.
  • Define EOL service requirements for propulsion components.
  • Conduct SFMEA to identify safety requirements.
  • Participate in Agile planning and risk identification.
  • Develop MATLAB/SysML/Rhapsody simulations for propulsion features.

Job description

Job Title: Powertrain Systems Engineer (Thermal)

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performing powertrain function analysis and function decomposition.
  • Requirement elicitation activities to gather Regulatory requirements, environmental and electrical parameters & associated corporate specifications etc.
  • Propulsion system high level functional requirement artifact creation in IBM DOORS/IBM DOORS Next Gen (DNG) including attribute classifications.
  • Propulsion System Operating Modes Identification, Analysis and Documentation in DNG.
  • Propulsion System energy conversion, storage and delivery understanding and requirement development considering standards and OBD compliance.
  • Propulsion system EOL Service requirements (IO, Routine, DID) defines for propulsion components.
  • Powertrain Thermal System analysis to identify visually the normal, de-rated and non-functional performance for each component and determine possible Propulsion System functions for a given temperature range.
  • Perform System Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (SFMEA) for Propulsion system functions and identify the safety requirement.
  • Participate in Agile Methodology to plan RASI deliverable timing and identify potential risks.
  • Develop simulation/virtual models for specific propulsion features/functions using MATLAB, SysML Rhapsody.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Electronics Engineering or other related Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in conventional and hybrid powertrain development.
  • Good understanding on overall vehicle dynamics and vehicle system functioning.
  • Good understanding automotive electrical sensors and actuators, Temperature sensors, Pumps, Valves system functioning.
  • Good understanding of Thermal Systems High, Low, AC, battery Temperature Loop loop management.
  • Expertise with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN along with OBD standards.
  • Experience in Function analysis and function decomposition.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office products Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS, IBM DOORS Next Gen etc.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Vector Tools for data collection.
  • Vehicle Validation or Powertrain Calibration experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management.
  • Experience with overall vehicle development cycle and Change management process.
  • Good communication skills, able to lead meetings with cross functional team.
