Job summary

MatchPoint is seeking a Powertrain Systems Engineer with experience in Torque Management for Conv and ePT. The role requires knowledge of PT/ePT transmission, driveline torque calculations, and a strong background in vehicle dynamics and engine systems.

You will document functional requirements, perform SFMEA, and model propulsion features using MATLAB and SysML tools. Agile experience and DOORS proficiency are valued for this hands-on engineering position based in Auburn Hills, MI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Electronics Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years' experience in conventional powertrain development.
• Strong understanding of vehicle dynamics and systems.
• Knowledge of automotive electrical sensors/actuators and CAN/LIN/OBD.
• Experience with DOORS tools and requirement management.
• Familiarity with system analysis and function decomposition.

Responsibilities

• Work on Torque Management functionality for Conv and ePT.
• Perform propulsion system function analysis and decomposition.
• Develop high level functional requirements in DOORS/DOORS Next Gen.
• Identify propulsion system operating modes and document them.
• Conduct SFMEA for propulsion functions and safety requirements.
• Participate in Agile planning and risk identification.
• Create simulation/virtual models using MATLAB and SysML tools.

Job description

Job Title: Powertrain Systems Engineer (Experience in Torque Management Conv and ePT)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Required Knowledge and worked on Torque Management Functionality for Conv and ePT.
• Knowledge on PT, ePT Transmission, and Driveline Torque Calculations.
• Knowledge on engine functionalities for Air intake, Turbo, Intercooler, EGR, DPF, SCR, Cooling system, PTO, Ignition system, Charging system.
• Performing powertrain function analysis and function decomposition.
• Requirement elicitation activities to gather Regulatory requirements, environmental and electrical parameters & associated corporate specifications etc.
• Propulsion system high level functional requirement artifact creation in IBM DOORS/IBM DOORS Next Gen (DNG) including attribute classifications.
• Propulsion System Operating Modes Identification, Analysis and Documentation in DNG.
• Propulsion System energy conversion, storage and delivery understanding and requirement development considering standards and OBD compliance.
• Propulsion system EOL Service requirements (IO, Routine, DID) defines for propulsion components.
• Powertrain Thermal System analysis to identify visually the normal, de-rated and non-functional performance for each component and determine possible Propulsion System functions for a given temperature range.
• Perform System Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (SFMEA) for Propulsion system functions and identify the safety requirement.
• Participate in Agile Methodology to plan RASI deliverable timing and identify potential risks.
• Develop simulation/virtual models for specific propulsion features/functions using MATLAB, SysML Rhapsody.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Electronics Engineering or other related Engineering degree.
• Minimum 3+ years' experience in conventional powertrain development. Experience in Diesel Engines Preferred.
• Good understanding on overall vehicle dynamics and vehicle system functioning.
• Good understanding automotive electrical sensors and actuators, Temperature sensors, Pumps, Valves system functioning.
• Good understanding of Thermal Systems High, Low, AC, battery Temperature Loop loop management.
• Expertise with automotive communication protocols such as CAN, LIN along with OBD standards.
• Experience in Function analysis and function decomposition.
• Expertise with Microsoft Office products Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint.
• Proficient in requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS, IBM DOORS Next Gen etc.
