Job summary

Quanta Infrastructure Solutions Group in Boise, Idaho is seeking an engineering intern to support the Transmission Line team. You will assist with overhead line design, PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis under supervision, gaining hands-on experience in design and drafting tools.

You’ll collaborate with engineers and project managers, participate in design reviews and field data collection, and help prepare documentation and design packages.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Coursework or familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or PLS-CADD.
• Basic understanding of design codes and standards such as NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and IBC.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with all aspects of overhead transmission line design, including PLS-CADD modeling, line routing, and structure analysis.
• Support drafting and mapping using AutoCAD, MicroStation, ArcGIS, or similar software.
• Implement engineering redlines and ensure drawing accuracy.
• Perform basic engineering calculations, such as sag-tension analysis and pole loading checks, under supervision.
• Help prepare documentation, reports, and design packages for project deliverables.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams to develop and refine engineering solutions.
• Participate in design reviews, field data collection, and technical meetings.
• Maintain organized records of design data, drawings, and project notes.
• Work approximately 40 hours per week during the internship period.
